MUSKEGON, MI — A cannabis-friendly campsite is coming to Muskegon this summer, just in time for festival season.

The Grassy Knoll Recreational Dispensary, located at 2125 Lemuel St, is using the fives acres adjacent to their building to set up a smoker oasis in its wooded hilltop.

The dispensary sits on a grassy knoll — hence the name — above Business Route U.S. 31 and Seaway Drive, away from most homes and businesses.

Owners Janet Tombre and Fred Cini expect to make room for at least 50 RVs and allow tent camping as well. Additionally, portable bathrooms, water, picnic tables and bonfire pits will be added to the empty lot.

Grassy Knoll is partnering with Burning Foot Beach Festival again this year, this time as a lodging partner.

Festival-goers who reserve campsites with Grassy Knoll will get free shuttle service from the campsite to Pere Marquette. Pricing is not finalized but will be within range of Burning Foot campsite prices, Tombre said.

The partnership adds much needed lodging space for the beach festival that draws in thousands. The 25 RV sites and 30 tent camp sites at Pere Marquette typically sell out as soon as reservations open, said Allen Serio, Burning Foot co-chair.
