Police announced Monday that a homicide and a number of shootings seem to be connected. Six rap artists associated with the same local music company and the company’s owner are all facing charges.
After walking through a timeline of violence beginning last May, Lt. Col. Mike John started to explain the “common thread” that connected the incidents by showing a rap video.
John warned that the video contained coarse language. Guns, piles of loose cash, cars and local street signs flashed on the screen to the beat.
“I’m selling drugs, oh yeah,” the rapper sings in the chorus.
John explained the video was produced by a local rap artist associated with the music entity called Focus Discipline & Dedication (FDD), which is owned by Jerry Black. The group has posted a variety of videos and songs on YouTube.
