Production Manager – Firelands Scientific – Huron, OH

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Responsible and accountable for all operations, overseeing and managing production, supply chain, compliance, staffing, process improvements, forecasting, budgeting, operational goals, etc.
  • Be highly people and team focused building personal development plans for the team, leads, supervisors and managers that are aligned with company goals and individual aspirations
  • Develop strategies and review costs and budgets and evaluate metrics to be able to run operations at optimal levels
  • Set key performance objectives, operational indicators, and strategies; and lead execution to achieve those objectives
  • Communicate performance objectives to all Managers so that they can effectively manage team members
  • Lead all teams to meet our customer quality and delivery expectations
  • Ensure regulatory compliance, manage/ prevent risk, and maintain an effective business continuity strategy
  • Provide leadership, mentoring and motivation to build and maintain a high performing team
  • Collaborate with all managers to prevent injuries and ensure employees are working safely
  • Provides estimates for projects, completion, materials, supplies, and equipment needs
  • Estimates production times, staffing needs and related issues for management decisions
  • Ensures all equipment is properly maintained and optimize utilization and performance
  • Collaborate with all departments: Sales, Accounting, Operations, IT, HR, Marketing to achieve business objectives and develop a strong, functional and collaborative culture
  • Ensure staff is properly trained for all aspects of their position, including computer and production skills
  • Produce summary production reports to Executive leadership on the performance of the operations.
  • Build strong relationships with local and state level officials
  • Execute and develop short- and long-term operational strategies that achieve financial targets
  • Transform operations, striving for zero defects by utilizing Continuous Improvement processes and tools and be a catalyst to institute a culture of process capabilities and control rather than product inspection.
  • 8+ years of leadership experience in an integrated medical cannabis operation or related field such as pharmaceutical, high labor content product/process environment, produce/vegetable processing or CPG
  • Highly effective and adaptive leader that can motivate and lead a diverse team through operational startup and industry or strategy changes.
  • Ability to design and implement KPI’s that illustrate the performance of the operations
  • Ability to integrate operations to achieve repeatable and predictable outcomes
  • Ability to design, implement and evaluate business processes
  • Start-up industry experience a plus
  • Lean / Six Sigma Certification a plus
  • Prior ERP implementation experience in a manufacturing setting a plus
  • Strong financial and analytical skills
  • Excellent intuition and deductive reasoning for assessing opportunities
  • Strong insight and ability to identify, assess and manage risk
  • Strong interpersonal skills to build and lead a high performance and efficient team
  • Great personality to work, mentor and lead other managers
  • Display good judgment in the face of changing priorities and have the ability to prioritize and execute multiple tasks
  • Be proficient in Microsoft Office applications, ERP systems and possess strong computer skills
  • Dedicated to strong relationships with customers and employees
  • Able to clearly articulate the vision and plan, provide direct and clear feedback and able to positively influence others
  • Ability to pass a background check required
  • Must be 21 years of age or older
