COLUMBUS (Dawn Faugl) — A new group is trying to make medical marijuana legal in Ohio. It’s called Ohio Families Cann.
The people behind it are Ohio parents whose kids are very sick. Andrea Gunnoe is one of those parents. Her son, Reid, has a severe form of epilepsy.
The active 5-year-old can have more than a 100 seizures a month. His mom told us, “He’s miserable. He’s dizzy. He’s off balance. His head hurts. He’s throwing up. His life is very much in danger.”
With their medical bills in the millions, the Gunnoes have turned to medical marijuana. It has helped other epileptic kids.
“With each seizure we lose a little bit more of our kids we don’t have other options,” Andrea Gunnoe said.
But the marijuana medicine she needs is illegal in Ohio, and the Gunnoes don’t want to move to Colorado
like other Ohio families. She told ABC 6/FOX 28 “Those of us in the state of Ohio deserve better than having to leave and become a
refugee in our own country.”
