We get it – the labor economy is changing rapidly. In the past, if you had a passion for hospitality, you had to work long & late hours. You worked MOST weekends, and almost every evening. You dealt with an entitled & ungrateful public. You worked in a 90+degree kitchen in the middle of the summer (and it’s pretty hot in the winter too). And we know many of you aren’t looking forward to getting back to that kind of environment, and are taking your time to find the right job post-pandemic.
Mitchell’s Fine Chocolates is looking to recruit a kitchen assistant. The right candidate will have experience in the hospitality industry, specifically hands on kitchen experience.
Job duties include:
- Produce caramels, turtles, marshmallows, jellies, marzipan, truffle ganache, and other seasonal items as required
- Sort and roast nuts for enrobing or other confections
- Clean and dry all kitchen equipment at end of day, or in preparation for production
- Maintain a clean and tidy work area
- Inventory and ordering of kitchen related goods/supplies
- Preparing confections prior to enrobing with chocolate (caramels, marshmallows, pate de fruit, ganache, seasonal items
Nervous about working with chocolate? Don’t be. We have state of the art equipment, and provide hands-on training to work with confections and chocolates. You just need to bring a positive attitude, flexibility, willingness to learn, and kitchen experience.
Ultimately we are trying to make sure that it is a positive culture fit for both parties. We are looking to build a long term relationship with the right candidate, and want to make sure it would be beneficial for everyone.
If you’ve every wanted to work in the cannabis industry making edibles, this is an excellent springboard. We offer specialized training in confections that is hard to learn in other settings, and is highly transferrable/applicable to the edibles industry. (But to be clear, we do NOT currently make any medicated products)
