Inventory Management Associate – Grower Media Buyer – BFG Supply – Burton, OH


BFG Supply Co. is an industry leader in wholesale distribution to the greenhouse, nursery, and lawn and garden industry. BFG is looking to add members to join the team in our Purchasing and Inventory Management Department; for an Inventory Management Associate.

The buyer is responsible for the replenishment (purchasing and internal transfers) for all items in their assigned product categories. An emphasis is placed on maintaining adequate in stock inventory levels and order fill rates, while also ensuring appropriate inventory turnover. Other responsibilities include item maintenance, including stock status, costs and pricing, product data, assisting the sales team with substitutions, being a source for product knowledge, trade shows, and reporting.


**Essential Job Functions:**

  • Manage product inventory

* Ensure day to day compliance with the Inventory management Daily /Weekly/ * Monthly /process and procedures .

  • Facilitate regular review of the products we carry that will meet the needs of our customers and maximize the value within our area of focus
  • Monitor stock levels and determines most efficient and effective way to replenish using BFG’s ERP system.
  • Identify obsolete inventory and work to assist sales to liquidate by sales or return to the vendor for credit.
  • Create P.O’s and perform cost and pricing maintenance in accordance with company guidelines.
  • Regularly review all open orders and backorders to ensure that purchase orders are current and valid
  • Track shipments and provide estimated delivery dates when requested
  • Optimize Freight
  • In cooperation with BFG Logistics department, determine optimal freight terms.
  • Maintain Systems Information
  • Stock items usage maintenance
  • Keep all vendor and product information current and accurate
  • Set up substitution items
  • Maintain SKU usage data, line points, order points, reorder methods, freeze controls review cycles, and purchase parameters.
  • Work on special projects as assigned by management.
  • Follow broad based directives
  • Reporting and analysis of sales, purchase, and inventory as required

Required Skills and Experience:

**Education, Credentials and Experience:**

  • Bachelor’s degree or 3+ year’s experience preferred, horticulture industry experience preferred

**Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities Required:**

  • Exceptional analytical ability
  • Forecasting and inventory management experience
  • Extremely organized and detailed
  • Intermediate to advanced Excel skills and ability to learn new software quickly.

**Environmental Factors:**

  • Shared work in office and warehouse.
  • Travel less than 10%
